OA&M

Operation administration & maintenance.

OCB - Outgoing calls barred (OCB)

This is used by all operators to provide an alternative to disconnecting a service. Therefore if a customer fails in settling their account within the specified time period, an operator will offer OCB and include a repayment plan. However, if a customer defaults on that payment plan, then operator may disconnect the service.

OCC

Other common carriers.

Office of Telecommunications (OFTEL)

This is the non-ministerial government body that monitors the Telecoms industry within the UK. In 2004 it was renamed OFCOM (Office of Communications).

OFT

The Office of Fair Trading.

Ohms Restriction

Ohms Restriction is exactly the same as Ohms resistance. Resistance is measured in Ohms. A resistance of 1 Ohm measn that it allows only one Ampere of current passing through at one Volt of potential.

OPX

Off-premises extension.

OSC

Operating system control.

OSI

Open systems interconnection.

OSS

Operations support systems or operational support system.

Other Licensed Operators (OLO)

These are companies, other than British Telecom, which operate a telecommunications systems.
